Crystal Palace name Pierre Sage as Oliver Glasner's successor
Palace move quickly to replace the departed Glasner, and their new head coach wastes no time in the transfer market, bringing in Spain defender Óscar Mingueza on a free transfer.
Crystal Palace have appointed Pierre Sage as their new head coach, filling the vacancy left by Oliver Glasner's move to Nottingham Forest. Sage inherits a Palace side that won its first major trophy under Glasner last season and will be tasked with building on that success.
Sage has moved immediately in the transfer market, completing the signing of Óscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo on a free transfer as his first piece of business. The 27-year-old Spain international is a Barcelona academy product who made 66 appearances for the Catalan club before joining Celta Vigo in 2022, where he contributed 7 goals and 15 assists in 147 appearances. Versatile across the back line and in midfield, Mingueza has signed a four-year contract at Selhurst Park.
Mingueza has already spoken about what fans can expect from him — a versatile, hard-working presence who can play at center-back, either full-back spot, or drop into midfield when needed.
