Antoine Griezmann completes Orlando City move after eight years at Atlético Madrid
The World Cup winner joins as a Designated Player on a deal through 2027-28, with an option for a further season, and wasted no time making an impact in Florida.
Antoine Griezmann has completed his move to Orlando City SC, ending an eight-year spell at Atlético Madrid to become the MLS club's marquee Designated Player signing. The deal, agreed back in March, was finalized once MLS's secondary transfer window opened in July, with Griezmann obtaining his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa before being officially unveiled.
The 2018 World Cup winner and France international was introduced to Orlando fans on July 7 and 8, where he outlined his priorities: win a trophy with the club, adapt quickly to the American game, and go head-to-head with Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in what promises to become one of MLS's marquee rivalries.
He didn't wait long to show why Orlando made him their record signing. In a friendly against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Griezmann scored on his very first touch of the match and added an assist as Orlando ran out 6-0 winners.
