Madrid Cruise Past Malaga
Jude Bellingham scored and forced an own goal as Real Madrid beat Malaga 4-0 to make it three wins from three in La Liga.
Bellingham leads early burst
Real Madrid made it three La Liga wins from three after beating Malaga 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring in the 19th minute. The England midfielder won a loose ball, drove into the area past three defenders and finished low beneath Málaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero.
Bellingham played a key role in Madrid’s second seven minutes later. His header created a goalmouth scramble, with Herrero eventually credited with an own goal after the ball rebounded off him and crossed the line.
Mbappé makes it three
Kylian Mbappé extended the lead in the 30th minute, volleying Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross into the net. It was Mbappé’s fourth goal of the league season.
Madrid led 3-0 at half-time and remained in control, although Bellingham struck the post in the second half. Málaga also hit the woodwork through Rafa Rodríguez.
VAR overturns Malaga penalty
Málaga were initially awarded a penalty late in the match after a handball decision against Madrid substitute Yan Diomande. Referee Juan Martínez reversed the decision following a VAR review.
Arda Güler completed the scoring in added time. The substitute started the move from inside Madrid’s half, exchanged passes with Vinícius Júnior and finished from close range to make it 4-0.
The victory took José Mourinho’s side to nine points from three matches and kept them top of La Liga. Barcelona were on six points with a match in hand at the time of the result.
