Pochettino Names Youthful USMNT Squad For Four Friendlies

New cycle begins with fresh faces

United States head coach Mauricio Pochettino has named a 28-player squad for four home friendlies against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada.

The upcoming camp is the USMNT’s first since the 2026 World Cup and begins a new cycle toward the 2030 tournament. The squad contains 13 players who featured in the United States’ 2026 World Cup group, alongside 13 uncapped players and eight teenagers.

Christian Pulisic has not been selected. The AC Milan forward has recently returned to club action after an injury-affected World Cup and has made only two 45-minute appearances for his club this season.

Sullivan earns first senior call-up

Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan has received his first senior United States call-up at the age of 16.

Sullivan is one of several young players given an opportunity by Pochettino. His inclusion follows a breakout MLS season, and he has an agreement in place to join Manchester City once he turns 18.

Pochettino has also included other uncapped teenagers such as Red Bull New York forward Julian Hall, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mathis Albert and Philadelphia Union defenders Neil Pierre and Frankie Westfield.

Four home matches confirmed

The United States begin the window against Peru on 26 September at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

They face Chile at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri, on 29 September before meeting Mexico at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on 3 October. The four-match run ends against Canada at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, on 6 October.
