PFA Awards: Fernandes And Shaw Win Player Of The Year Awards

Fernandes breaks a Premier League record

Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City forward Khadija Shaw have won the Professional Footballers' Association men's and women's Player of the Year awards.

Fernandes enjoyed a landmark 2025/26 campaign, breaking the Premier League record for assists in a single season. The Manchester United captain finished with 21 assists in the league, surpassing the previous mark of 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. His form helped United finish third in the table and secure a return to the Champions League under manager Michael Carrick.

Fernandes has already won the Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year accolades, and completed the treble by collecting the player-voted PFA award at Manchester's Opera House on Tuesday evening.

Shaw claims a second PFA award in three years

It is a second win in three seasons for Shaw, who secured her third consecutive Women's Super League Golden Boot with 21 goals as Manchester City were crowned champions.

Young player awards go to O'Reilly and Smith

Manchester City defender Nico O'Reilly succeeds Morgan Rogers as men's Young Player of the Year, with the versatile 21-year-old cementing his place in City's starting XI. He contributed five goals and eight goal involvements in 34 league appearances, and was named Man of the Match after scoring twice in City's League Cup final win over Arsenal.

Arsenal's Olivia Smith retained her crown as the women's Young Player of the Year, having first won it in 2025 while at Liverpool.
