Super Falcons unveil 25-player squad, Plumptre ruled out injured

Head coach Justine Madugu has named Nigeria's 25-player squad for the defence of their WAFCON title, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and veteran Asisat Oshoala all included, but defender Ashleigh Plumptre misses out through injury.

Familiar leaders retained

Rasheedat Ajibade continues as captain, with Chiamaka Nnadozie between the posts and Asisat Oshoala leading the line as Nigeria bid to become the first side to win back-to-back WAFCON titles since their own dominant early run.

Plumptre misses out

Defender Ashleigh Plumptre is unavailable, still working through rehabilitation and short of full fitness, leaving her out of Madugu's 25-player selection despite being a regular under previous regimes.

A squad built for another title defence

Veteran defender Osinachi Ohale and midfield standout Jennifer Echegini also feature as Nigeria look to navigate a Group C containing Zambia, Egypt and debutants Malawi.

What's next

Nigeria open their group campaign in Rabat as part of the July 26 – August 6 group stage, before the knockout rounds begin ahead of the August 16 final.
