Newcastle Rescue 2-2 Draw After Bournemouth Take Two-Goal Lead
Jacob Ramsay’s 88th-minute strike earned Newcastle a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at St James’ Park after the Cherries had led 2-0.
Bournemouth seize early advantage
Bournemouth looked set for their first win under Marco Rose after racing into a 2-0 lead at St James’ Park.
Alex Scott’s deflected shot looped into the box and Marcus Tavernier stole in at the back post to poke the ball past Lukas Hornicek. Bournemouth added a second when Justin Kluivert’s fizzing long-range effort hit the post, bounced off Hornicek and fell to Scott, who finished from close range.
Newcastle responded quickly after the restart. Harvey Barnes halved the deficit with a stunning curler just 27 seconds after the kick-off following Bournemouth’s second goal, setting up a tense finale.
Ramsey rescues Newcastle
Substitute Jacob Ramsay found the bottom corner in the 88th minute to secure a 2-2 draw for Newcastle.
The late goal continues Newcastle’s unbeaten start under Matthias Jaissle but will feel like two points dropped after surrendering a two-goal cushion. Bournemouth were the better side overall, attempting 17 shots to Newcastle’s eight, yet again failed to hold onto a lead.
Wasted leads haunt Bournemouth
Bournemouth have now lost seven points from winning positions this season.
They are the first side in Premier League history to score the opening goal in their first three games and fail to win any of them, having also conceded crucial stoppage-time goals against Manchester City and Everton. Rose’s side will need to address late-game concentration to turn dominant displays into victories.

Newcastle will travel to Leeds United in the next Premier League fixture.
Bournemouth return to the Vitality Stadium to welcome Brentford. Both sides will be looking to build momentum, but Bournemouth must find a way to close out games they control.
