Semenyo Out For Eight Weeks With Knee Injury
Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo is expected to be out for around eight weeks with a knee injury, manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed, with a return pencilled in for December.
What Maresca said
Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Antoine Semenyo will be out for around eight weeks after hurting his knee in Manchester City's 3-2 Premier League win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.
Semenyo came on as a substitute in the second half and was hurt shortly afterwards. Maresca said the club first feared a worse injury but felt much better after a scan. "It could be eight weeks," he said, adding that he expects the Ghana international back around December.
How the game unfolded
City led through Phil Foden on 19 minutes, set up by Jeremy Doku, and Ipswich's Daizen Maeda equalised two minutes later. Erling Haaland put City back in front on 34 minutes and scored again on 69. Zian Flemming pulled one back for Ipswich with a penalty in the 90th minute.
Haaland a doubt
Haaland also took a knock in the game. Maresca has not ruled him out of City's Champions League match against AEK Athens at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, 20 October, and a decision will depend on how he trains. Semenyo will miss that game.
Semenyo's season
Semenyo has scored two goals for City this season, both in the 5-3 win over Sunderland.
