Man City Come From Behind To Beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 In Seoul
Antoine Semenyo set up two goals for Omar Marmoush as Manchester City overturned an early Atletico Madrid lead, before Rayan Ait-Nouri added a third in the closing stages of their final pre-season friendly in South Korea.
Dominguez punishes City before the break
Manchester City started the brighter side in front of around 50,000 fans at Seoul World Cup Stadium, with Savinho repeatedly running at the Atletico Madrid defence down the right, forcing a save out of Jan Oblak and firing another effort off target from the edge of the box. Atletico took the lead against the run of play in the 43rd minute: Morten Hjulmand got a touch on a corner, and 16-year-old Jorge Dominguez, the youngest player in either starting XI, reacted quickest to poke the loose ball into the bottom corner.
Semenyo sets up Marmoush twice in three minutes
City levelled early in the second half. Left winger Antoine Semenyo kept the ball in play under pressure near the byline, beat his marker and squared for Omar Marmoush, who got across defender Dani Martinez to force the ball home. Two minutes later the same combination worked again: Semenyo crossed from the left once more, and Marmoush finished from close range to put City 2-1 ahead.
Ait-Nouri wraps it up as Lee Kang-in's debut goes quiet
Substitute Rayan Ait-Nouri completed the scoring in the 90th minute, converting a one-on-one chance teed up by fellow substitute Divin Mubama. Atletico had made nine changes at the hour mark, sending on new arrival Lee Kang-in for his first appearance for the club in place of Rodrigo Mendoza. Lee curled a free-kick over the bar shortly after coming on and dragged a shot wide from an Arnau Sola cutback in the 76th minute, but neither he nor a stoppage-time sight of goal for Iker Luque could find a way back for the Spanish side.
City's final tune-up before Wembley
The result rounded off Manchester City's pre-season tour of Asia, which also included a win over a K-League All Stars XI, and leaves Enzo Maresca's side to turn their attention to the Community Shield against Crystal Palace. Atletico Madrid, who arrived in Seoul on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in Stockholm, end their own pre-season programme without a win over a fellow European heavyweight.
