Ivan Toney Charged With Assault After Soho Nightclub Incident
England forward Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm after a Soho nightclub incident, and is due in court next month.
The charge
England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following a nightclub incident in December 2025. The charge relates to an alleged assault on Wardour Street in London's Soho district. Toney is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 24 September.
Toney's response
A spokesperson for Toney said: "Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court."
Timing with England duty
The court date falls two days before England are due to play World Cup winners Spain in a Nations League fixture at Wembley.
World Cup involvement
Toney was a surprise selection in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for this summer's World Cup. He came on as a late substitute in the semi-final defeat to Argentina before starting the third-place play-off win over France.
Career at Brentford and Al Ahli
Toney, 30, joined Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli from Brentford in August 2024 for a reported £40m fee. He scored 72 goals in 141 appearances for Brentford, including 36 in three Premier League seasons. He missed the first half of the 2023/24 season while serving a gambling ban but returned in time to feature in England's run to the Euro 2024 final. Al Ahli's Saudi Pro League season begins on 13 August.
