Haaland And Fernandes Star In Thrilling Premier League Gameweek Two

Haaland and Cherki inspire City
Manchester City stayed top of the Premier League after beating Crystal Palace 4-1 at Selhurst Park.
Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki each scored twice as City followed their opening-weekend win with another convincing result. The champions ended Gameweek Two with six points from two matches and a 6-2 goal difference.
Bruno delivers United response
Manchester United recovered from an early setback to beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford.
Leif Davis put Ipswich ahead before Bruno Fernandes equalised before half-time. United took control after the break as Jacob Greaves scored an own goal, Fernandes completed a hat-trick and Bryan Mbeumo added a late fifth. Chuba Akpom scored Ipswich’s second goal in stoppage time.
Fernandes’ treble gave United their first league win after the opening-week defeat to Hull City.
Arsenal and Chelsea make it two
Arsenal won 1-0 at Aston Villa, with Bukayo Saka scoring the match-winning goal. The victory gave Mikel Arteta’s side two wins from two and came in the manager’s 250th Premier League game in charge.
Chelsea recorded the weekend’s highest-scoring win, edging Brighton & Hove Albion 4-3 at Stamford Bridge. Roméo Lavia, Pedro Neto, João Pedro and Cole Palmer scored for Chelsea, who held off Brighton’s late challenge.
Away wins and late goals
Newcastle United won 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur through second-half goals from Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa. Spurs remained without a point or a goal after two league games.
Hull City continued their strong opening to the season with a 1-0 win at Coventry City. Coventry’s defeat left them without a point or a goal after two matches.
Liverpool twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest, while James Tarkowski’s late strike earned Everton a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. Leeds United and Brentford shared a 1-1 draw, and Sunderland beat Fulham 1-0.
