Abdul Fatawu completes £20m move to Ipswich Town
Ghana international Abdul Fatawu has joined newly promoted Ipswich Town from Leicester City in a deal worth up to £20million, giving Kieran McKenna's side a genuine attacking outlet ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Town confirm the deal
Ipswich Town announced the signing on their official channels, with the fee reported at £20million and the winger putting pen to paper after passing a medical.
A standout season in the Championship
Fatawu leaves Leicester having registered nine goals and seven assists in 44 Championship appearances last season, form that convinced Ipswich to move quickly and secure his signature before their pre-season training camp in Spain.
From Sporting loan to Premier League move
The 21-year-old winger initially arrived at Leicester on loan from Sporting CP in January 2024 before that switch was made permanent, and produced some of the standout individual performances of his time at the King Power Stadium, including a memorable hat-trick of free-kicks against Newcastle.
What's next
Fatawu becomes one of Ipswich's marquee signings of the summer as they prepare for their return to the Premier League, replacing relegated West Ham United, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers alongside fellow promoted sides Hull City and Coventry City.
