Maitland-Niles Stunner Earns Everton 2-2 Draw With United
Ainsley Maitland-Niles curled home a 96th-minute equaliser on his Everton debut to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
United twice take the lead
Manchester United looked set for all three points after twice going ahead at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock just after the break, finishing calmly to put the visitors in front. Everton responded through Tyrique George, whose first goal for the club levelled the score and set up a tense closing stage.
Benjamin Šeško restored United’s lead in the 88th minute with a well-taken finish. The Slovenia international appeared to have won the game for Michael Carrick’s side before Everton’s late drama.
Maitland-Niles rescues Everton
Deadline-day signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles came off the bench to make his debut and scored in the 96th minute.
The former Arsenal midfielder curled a brilliant long-range shot into the top corner to salvage a point for Everton. It was the latest Premier League goal scored by Everton at home since February 2025 and sparked wild celebrations among the home fans.
The result leaves United with a point from a game they looked likely to win, while Everton extend their unbeaten run with another hard-fought draw.
