Casemiro completes free transfer to Inter Miami, reunites with Messi
The Brazil midfielder signs for Inter Miami as a free agent after his Manchester United contract expired, joining Lionel Messi's midfield — though MLS has opened a tampering investigation into how the move came together.
Free transfer confirmed after Man United exit
Inter Miami have officially confirmed the signing of Casemiro on a free transfer following the expiry of his Manchester United contract. The Brazil international, 34, signs through the conclusion of the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend to June 2029.
Reunited with Messi, De Paul and Reguilón
Casemiro slots into a stacked Inter Miami midfield already featuring Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul and Sergio Reguilón, several of whom he faced or played alongside during a trophy-filled career in Europe. Inter Miami first had to acquire his MLS discovery rights from the LA Galaxy, with the two clubs reaching a settlement over the terms.
MLS opens tampering investigation
Major League Soccer has launched a review into allegations of tampering surrounding the transfer, gathering information from those involved. Inter Miami say they are cooperating fully and expect the matter to be resolved without affecting the deal.
