Belgium hit four past USA to set up Spain quarterfinal showdown
Belgium are through to the World Cup quarterfinals after a commanding 4–1 win over the United States.
Belgium delivered one of their most complete knockout performances of the tournament, beating the United States 4–1 and ending the hosts’ run in the Round of 16.
The Red Devils struck first in the 23rd minute before USA responded just before halftime to keep the match alive. But after the break, Belgium’s quality took over.
Goals in the 58th, 74th and 88th minutes turned the match into a statement victory. The scoreline reflected Belgium’s control, composure and clinical edge in the final third.
Belgium went on to face Spain in the quarterfinal on July 10, losing 2–1 on a late Mikel Merino winner to end their run in the last eight.
