Bayern opens Bundesliga title defense with shutout win over Stuttgart.

Bayern take control

Bayern Munich started their Bundesliga title defence with a commanding 5-1 win over Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena.

Dayot Upamecano put Bayern ahead in the 21st minute when he met Joshua Kimmich’s corner and guided a header into the net. Stuttgart responded seven minutes after half-time, with Josha Vagnoman scoring to bring the visitors level.

Olise restores Bayern lead

Bayern hit back quickly through Michael Olise, who ran onto Kimmich’s through ball and finished to make it 2-1 in the 55th minute.

Olise later had another goal ruled out following a VAR offside decision, but Bayern extended their lead shortly afterwards when Vagnoman turned Alphonso Davies’ cross into his own net.

Saibari inspires late surge

Ismael Saibari made an immediate impact after coming on, providing two assists in the closing stages.

The Bundesliga debutant set up Aleksandar Pavlović for Bayern’s fourth goal in the 82nd minute before finding Luis Díaz in stoppage time for the fifth. Bayern had further opportunities during a dominant display but settled for a four-goal winning margin.

The win gave Vincent Kompany’s side an ideal start to the new league campaign and extended their strong early-season momentum.
